General Professional Skills (Allgemeine Berufsvorbereitung, ABV) Placement Tests Summer Semester 2023

The General Professional Skills placement tests are mandatory for all students with some prior knowledge of the language, even if this knowledge is very basic, who have not yet completed a course in this language at the Language Center. These tests are used to assign students to the correct General Professional Skills (ABV) module (> see the section "General Professional Skills" at the end of the course catalog).

You will receive the result of your placement test in good time for you to register for a language course by the relevant deadline.

Please note:

  • The General Professional Skills placement tests will take place only on the days advertised. It is not possible to take the test at another time.
  • For some languages, you need to register for the test in advance. Please pay attention to the respective deadlines.
  • We do not offer additional placement tests for the courses that take place in the semester break. Please make arrangements to take the appropriate test prior to the start of the relevant semester, even if you are not taking part in a course until the semester break.
  • The test result is generally valid for a further two semesters. (Example: If you take a placement test before the 2023 summer semester, the result can be used to register for courses in the summer semester 2023, the winter semester 2023/2024 and the summer semester 2024.)
