Dealing with my feelings

Feelings play an important role in autonomous learning. That is why it is important to recognise feelings that come up when learning and to process these in order to organise learning effectively.

  •

    I can do this

    I want to learn this

    This isn't important for me

I am aware of my feelings when learning and/or can reflect on them.

I can recognise particular feelings that spur me on when I’m learning (for example, the feeling of satisfaction that stems from success).

I can recognise that certain feelings can hinder me from (effectively) completing a task (for example, boredom, fear of speaking in front of others, or emotional blocks).

I can control negative feelings when I am learning and can sometimes turn them into something positive.

I can motivate myself to speak the language I am learning, even when I am nervous about it or worried about making mistakes.

I can talk about my feelings when necessary (for example, with a fellow student or with a learning advisor).

For further descriptors see monitoring and cooperating.

Do you like learning together with others? In that case, go to cooperating.
